For this selection, we have curated our most iconic wines that narrate the tale of Chianti and Tuscan winemaking. Our ‘345, crafted from indigenous grapes, offers a refreshing and robust character, ideal for appetizers, pasta dishes with tomato sauce and meat or roasted cheeses. Our Reserve, a pure Sangiovese, boasts a harmonious blend of balance, elegance, and minerality, making it an impeccable match for ribs and roasts. Lastly, the velvety structure of our Supertuscan Primum showcases the fullest fruity and earthy expression of Sangiovese, a perfect complement to a bone-in rib-eye steak. Our Chianti Riserva encapsulates the essence of the Siena hills terrior, where a rare marine soil combines with an ideal diurnal temperature temperature range. From here, we obtain an iconic interpretation of Sangiovese, showcasing an extraordinary balance in aging potential from only the finest bunches. We meticulously select organic grapes from the coolest sites of the state to enhance the wines elegance. This Riserva proudly honors our territory with a highly selective, limited production destined to mature for several years in the bottle.

 

GRAPE VARIETY: Sangiovese 100%

ZONE: Tenuta di Montechiaro - Siena. Alcool: 13,5 % Vol.

VINEYARDS: Selection by Il Capanno (3,5 ha, NE, planted in 2012) and the Cuccule (1,5, E, planted in 2002). Certified Organic Farming from 2010.

SOIL: Clay-limestone and sedimentary sand with marine fossils and shells.

WINEMAKING & AGING Harvesting method: Manual in small crates. Immediate destemming and soft pressing. Skin maceration: 18 days in concrete vats. Fermentation: 10 days in steel vats. Aging: 24 months in Tonneaux (French Oak Barrels 500 l), 2nd, 3rd year.

TASTING PROFILE Color: Intense ruby color. Aromas: The nose is elegant with aromas of chocolate, dark cherry, myrtle, and sweet spices such as cinnamon. Taste: The palate is perfectly balanced, tastefully mineral, and persistent with a varietal orange zest-flavored finish. Serving Temperature: 16 ° C

Montechiaro Primum Vinum 2019 × 4

The Primum Vinum is our estate's signature wine, designed to showcase the full potential of our oldest Sangiovese vines. These vines are carefully selected during two separate harvests, and only the best bunches are chosen at the end of September. These selected bunches are then dried in our historical Vinsantaia for 25 days, resulting in improved structure, complexity, and smoothness. Our Supertuscan interpretation is the flagship of our organic philosophy, aimed at enhancing the Sangiovese variety and its ability to express our terroir. This Supertuscan can age for years, but it reaches its peak of elegance and varietal expression after 5 years.

VINEYARDS: Selection from Poggio ai Tordi, Le Fonti and La Scuola. (Vigna Poggio ai Tordi, 3 ha, S-O, planted in 2012 - Vigna delle Fonti, 1,2 ha, S-O, planted in 1998 - Vigna della Scuola, 1,7 ha, S-O, planted in 2002). Certified Organic Farming from 2010.

SOIL: Clay-limestone and sedimentary sand with marine fossils and shells.

WINEMAKING & AGING Manual harvesting. 20% of the best bunches are dried in baskets for 25 days. Skin maceration for 18 days in concrete vats. Fermentation for 10 days in steel vats. Aging for 24 months in slightly roasted Tonneaux (French Oak Barrels 500 l) and 6 additional months in the bottle.

TASTING PROFILE Color: Deep ruby color with garnet nuances. Aromas: On the nose, it offers a bouquet of blackberry jam, licorice, tea leaves and dried oranges with hints of sandalwood, lavender and iodine. Taste: The palate is round and full-bodied, with elegant tannins and a fruity and balsamic finish. Serving Temperature: 18°c

FOOD & WINES The Supertuscan style shows the complex personality of the Sangiovese grape variety and the importance of human behaviors as fundamental assets to respect and valorize the terroir.
